Joan Mir will continue with the Repsol Honda Team in MotoGP for the next two years, having confirmed a renewal with the team.
Mir, who joined the factory HRC operation for the 2023 season after his previous Suzuki team left the series at the end of 2022, will complete his third and fourth seasons with Honda thanks o his new contract, which will conclude at the end of the current regulations period in 2026, before the new 850cc regulations are introduced in 2027.
The 26-year-old had been expected to leave the Japanese manufacturer earlier in the season as a result of the poor performance of the RC213V over recent years. However, the 2020 MotoGP World Champion believes that he still has the capacity to work with Honda to improve the bike in the coming years.

"First of all, I am very happy to be able to compete with Honda and HRC for the next two years," Mir said on his two-year HRC renewal. "It was my goal to continue this partnership, and this time I have been able to achieve it. HRC and I have been in partnership since 2023, and as we continue to do so, I believe that by continuing to input my opinions to HRC, I can contribute to improving the RC213V.
"I know what I need to do and I know what Honda can achieve, so I hope that we can both achieve it. We will continue to work hard for the future for the remainder of this season."
Mir's confirmation at Honda is the second piece of the 2025 premier class rider roster to be put in place this week, after Trackhouse Racing announced their retention of Raul Fernandez for 2025 and 2026.
Mir will remain alongside his current HRC teammate, Italian Luca Marini, in Repsol Honda next year, although the #10's contract runs out at the end of 2025. Mir and Marini will work alongside current HRC MotoGP test rider Stefan Bradl, and new signing Aleix Espargaro, in developing the bike, as well as Johann Zarco - who recently won the Suzuka 8 Hours with HRC - who will remain at the LCR team next year. Honda's only spot left to be filled for next year is the second LCR seat, currently occupied by Takaaki Nakagami.
