Moto2 Austria, Free Practice: Ai Ogura leads from Chantra, Dixon inside the top five

Gold and Goose

The opening Moto2 Practice at the Red Bull Ring ended with MotoGP-bound Ai Ogura on top of the standings.

After Jake Dixon took an emotional home victory at Silverstone all eyes are on the Brit to see if he can grab another win this weekend in Austria.

One day after announcing his move to MotoGP with Trackhouse Racing, Ai Ogura claimed top spot in Free Practice. The Japanese rider had a disastrous race in Silverstone but has started his weekend well at the Red Bull Ring.

Somkiat Chantra finished Free Practice in second place. The Thai rider could be on his way to MotoGP in 2025 but is still searching for his first podium in the 2024 season.

Manuel Gonzalez completed the top three. The Spanish rider has not been on the podium since Mugello but has started his weekend off well in Austria.

Tony Arbolino had a good opening session, finishing in fourth place. The Italian rider has had a poor start to the Moto2 season but looked good in Free Practice.

British Grand Prix winner, Jake Dixon, has continued his form in Austria. The British rider is looking for his third podium in a row in Austria.

SpeedUp rider, Fermin Aldeguer, has had a mixed season so far but has had a top-10 start to the weekend at the Red Bull Ring.

Aron Canet and Joe Roberts finished in seventh and eighth places this morning in the opening Free Practice session.

Darryn Binder put in a late lap to finish the opening session in ninth place.

Despite a late crash Celestino Vietti rounded out the top ten in the Moto2 Free Practice session.
